Domaine Bachey-Legros, Santenay 'Clos des Hâtes' Vieilles Vignes, 2023
AOC Santenay Bourgogne
100% Pinot Noir
14.5%
'Les Hâtes' is a small clos surrounded by the 1er crus of Santenay. The Pinot vines were planted in 1935, on well-drained limestone soils protected from erosion by the walls of the clos.
Hand harvested, the pinot undergoes cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 days. After 11 days of post-fermentation maceration the wine goes into barrel on the fine lees for 12 months, followed by 2 further months in tank. 25% new oak.
Sous bois, smoky, savouriness that underlines the fresh fruit. Silken, well spiced. Fine, dusty tannins.

Legros Brothers Samuel and Lénaïc are the 6th generation of the family to run the domaine, having taken over from their mother, Christiane.
Based in Santenay, they have an enviable collection of old vines across their holdings. The brothers are rightly obsessed with the upkeep and care of these vines and aim to let them live long lives as naturally as possible.
